Description Position Description We are seeking a versatile and detail-oriented Proofreader to join our team. The ideal candidate will have a strong command of the English language, exceptional writing and editing skills and strong attention to detail to ensure accuracy, clarity and consistency of copy within Atlantic Union Bank's brand voice. Position Accountabilities Proofreading and Editing: Review and proof written content, including marketing materials, press releases, executive speeches, customer communications and digital content, to identify and correct errors in grammar, spelling, punctuation and formatting. Ensure content adheres to brand style guides, tone / personality and consistency in writing style. Verify factual accuracy and correct typographical and syntactical errors. Ensure accuracy and consistency of how parallel topics are written about across channels. Collaborate with writers and other team members to improve the overall quality of the content, as well as to ensure recommended edits don't impact overall accuracy of copy. Provide constructive feedback to writers when necessary to enhance clarity and coherence. Conduct final quality checks before launch or submission to ensure polished and professional output, including accuracy of elements such as phone numbers, QR codes, URLs. Use editing tools and software to improve efficiency in proofreading and content management. Maintain up-to-date knowledge of style guides, including AP, Chicago Manual of Style and in-house guidelines. Organizational Relationship This position reports directly to Director of Marketing Operations or assigned leader within the Marketing group Required Qualifications Education & Experience Bachelor's degree in English, Journalism, Communications or a related field. Minimum of 5 years of proven experience as a Proofreader, Editor, Copywriter or in a similar role. Excellent command of the English language, including grammar, punctuation and syntax. Familiarity with SEO and content optimization for digital platforms. Strong attention to detail and ability to spot errors quickly and accurately. Familiarity with style guides (e.g., AP, MLA, or Chicago Manual of Style). Proficiency in proofreading and editing tools such as Microsoft Word, Google Docs Grammarly or equivalent software. Preferred Qualifications Experience in proofreading content for banking or financial services industries Knowledge & Skills Extremely high degree of attention to detail and adherence to consistency. Strong time management and organizational skills to handle multiple projects simultaneously. Ability to work both independently and collaboratively in a team environment. Ability to work efficiently, while maintaining high quality. Proficient with Microsoft Office. Ability to exercise sound business judgment. Salary offered will be based on several factors including but not limited to education, work experience, certifications, etc. This position is also eligible to participate in either an applicable incentive compensation plan for the position or a discretionary profit sharing bonus program.
